What does a logo cost?

This depends on a number of factors: How much time is needed to gather the necessary information? How many concepts do you want to see? How many people are involved in the decision-making process? Do you require a standards guide? Please complete my quotation form for an accurate costing.

What is included in the cost?

The final deliverable is your full ownership of the logo, provided in multiple digital formats including eps, jpg and tif. The cost includes designing, producing and managing your project. Depending on your needs, it could also include a certain number of revisions, stationery, style guides and other materials.

Is your price negotiable?

No, my prices are fair. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

What methods of payment do you accept?

My preferred method of payment is PayPal. Alternately, you can pay using a bank draft in Canadian dollars. A payment schedule will be provided at the beginning of the project. Typically this calls for 50% up front and the remainder at the project’s completion and before the final files are delivered to you.

How many revisions are included in the price?

Two rounds of revisions to a selected concept are included in the cost and typically that is all that is needed. Costing for additional revisions will be provided in your contract.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. I am upfront about all of the associated costs in my quotation.

Process and Schedule

When can you start?

This would depend on my workload. I handle only as many clients as I can properly focus on. Please complete my quotation form for an accurate timeframe.

What is the timeframe to complete my project?

This will depend on my current schedule. Very rarely does the entire process take place in less than 1 to 2 months. If your needs are more urgent than this, contact me about what can be done.

What is your design process?

After 20 years, I have a highly productive and successful method for developing visual brands. You can read about it here.

How much of my time will this take up?

At the very minimum you are looking at a number of hours. The discovery process itself can take quite a while to complete. It is important to keep in mind that the more you are willing to contribute to the project, the better opportunity we have to succeed.

How much of the cost is related to doing research on my business?

Quite a bit of the total cost is associated with research. Exploring the market, your competition, and where you fit in it, are all part of the discovery phase. A detailed overview of what is covered can be found in the Visual Brand Identity Creative Process.

What do I get when you send me your initial ideas?

You will receive PDF proofs via email. The number of concepts will depend on the contract. All concepts are taken to a refined state and each logo is shown in multiple sizes, black, and in color, to show ease of application and scalability. You will see that each concept will be different from the others and not a slight variation on the same design. View some examples of concepts in my portfolio and read about my  Visual Brand Identity Creative Process to get a better idea of what to expect.

What if I don’t like the designs you provide?

Before any visuals are developed, we will have a shared vision in words about where the identity should head. The designs I present will follow this vision and usually only minor revisions are required to the proposed concepts (color, type, etc.). Anything beyond revisions would require additional charges, as outlined in our contract.

Do you use templates, stock or clip art in your logo designs?

No. You can read about the value of a custom (non stock) logo here.

Will not being in the same city affect the process?

No. The process I use was developed specifically for long distance clients. While it is often not possible for us to meet in person, I am available by email and will provide you my cellular phone number.

What file types do you provide?

Final files are provided in .eps, .ai and .jpg. If you require any other file formats just let me know.

Can you provide references from past clients?

Absolutely. You can see a few on my testimonial page.

Other

Can I call you?

Yes. I will give you my cellular phone number after our initial Email contact. To avoid sales calls I do not post my phone number online.

Can you help with the printing of our stationery?

Yes. I can offer suggestions for printing methods (digital, offset, etc.) as well as stock choices. My ability to recommend a printer to you will depend on where you are. All files delivered to my clients are put together so any reputable printer will be able to use them.

Will you use my new identity in your portfolio on on this site?

Yes. I try to show as much of my work as possible so it is likely that I would. If you don’t want it to be used, just let me know.

Do you always work in the same style?

Yes and no. I always strive for simplicity and clarity in my work. Styles of logos vary, depending on my clients’ needs, as you can see in my portfolio.
